Swimming at SMC
We strive to give every child at St. Margaret Clitherow Academy the opportunity to become a competent swimmer. Children is Year 3 and 4 spend the Autumn Term taking part in weekly swimming lessons. Parents are informed of their child's progress in swimming and parents are encouraged to take their child for additional swimming lessons if the child is struggling to swim the required 25m at the end of these two years.
In July 2019, 87% of the Year 6 cohort could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m. These children could all use a range of strokes and effectively perform safe self-rescue in different water based situations.
