Tell the time
Read daily to continue to become fluent readers. Write down any words you do not undersatnd. Try and find out the meaning of them. You can read any books that you have at home. There are also a lot of online books that you could read and some extra activities linked to each one.
It is also important to show that we understand what we read. Use the VIPERS question prompts to dicuss the text after reading.
Look in magazines, newspapers and books for the Year 2 common exception words or any of the sounds from each phase in Letters and Sounds. Concentrate on graphemes that look different but the sound the same. They could use a highlighter to highlight in magazines and newspapers or make lists and tables.
Use the chart above to practise recognising sounds. Find words including that sound in books. Read the words. Make up silly sentences including the words. The following websites have lots of phonics activities. You may need to sign up but they are free.
