Catholic Social Teaching calls us all to work for the common good, help build a just society, uphold the dignity of human life and work for justice and the dignity of all our brothers and sisters, especially those in greatest need.
Catholic social teaching (CST) is rooted in Scripture, formed by the wisdom of Church leaders, and influenced by grassroots movements. It is our moral compass, guiding us on how to live out our faith in the world.
Catholic Social Teaching at St Margaret Clitherow
The principles of Catholic Social Teaching underpin all we do at St Margaret Clitherow Academy. Our faith calls us to love God and to love our neighbours in every situation, especially our sisters and brothers living in poverty. Following in the footsteps of Jesus, we hope to make present in our unjust and broken world, the justice, love and peace of God. (Cafod).
We develop children’s knowledge and understanding of Catholic Social Teaching through enrichment days; Word of the Week Celebration of the Word, RE lessons and are now looking forward to embedding the principles into the whole curriculum. We encourage children to make links between the Catholic Social Teaching Principles and our school’s Mission and SMC Values. We teach our children to be thoughtful about and challenging of the world’s organisations and communities, we must work together to build a better world for the future.
