Thank you for visiting the website of St Margaret Clitherow Academy. I hope you find it informative and that it gives you a real sense of our unique character, our values and the many opportunities on offer for our children.

St Margaret Clitherow Academy is a loving, caring and serving Catholic community, ambitious to educate our children so they can thrive personally, academically and spiritually. At the heart of all we do is the person and teachings of Jesus Christ, guiding our daily work and relationships. Inspired by the words of John 13:34–37, “Love one another as I have loved you,” we strive to live out this mission in every aspect of school life.

Our SMC values — Love, Faith, Service, Tolerance, Integrity, Courage, Honesty and Compassion — are central to who we are. They shape how we treat one another, how we learn and how we grow together as a community. Through the example of Jesus, the life of St Margaret Clitherow and the teachings of the Catholic Church, we nurture children who develop a strong faith, understand what is right and wrong, and have the courage to stand up for what is just.

We are committed to ensuring that every child receives a high-quality education which equips them with the knowledge and skills they need for the next steps in their journey. We want our children to be confident, curious learners who embrace challenge, learn from their mistakes and take pride in their achievements. Our aim is that every pupil leaves us well-prepared for the future, both academically and as thoughtful, responsible members of society.

Alongside academic success, we place great value on the whole child. We are proud to be an OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) school, and we strive to make playtimes as joyful, engaging and enriching as possible. We believe that play is an essential part of children’s development, supporting their wellbeing, friendships and creativity.

Our school is at the heart of a strong and supportive community. We value our partnership with parents and carers and recognise the important role you play in your child’s education. Your support, involvement and encouragement make a significant difference, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us each day.

I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of this vibrant and welcoming school. Our dedicated staff, committed governors and supportive families work together to ensure the very best for every child.

I look forward to welcoming you to our school and working in partnership with you.
