Religious Education is an important part of life at St Margaret Clitherow school. It helps our children understand who they are, what they believe, and how they can live a fruitful life with others. Through RE, our children learn about God, Jesus, and the teachings of the Catholic Church, and how faith connects to everyday life. They are encouraged to think deeply, ask questions, and express their ideas with confidence. RE also helps our children develop strong moral values, understand other religions and worldviews, and engage respectfully with people who are different from them, supporting their personal growth and preparation for life in today’s world.
The Religious Education Directory underpins teaching and learning in our school. It guides the RE curriculum by outlining what pupils should know, understand and experience as they grow in faith. Rooted in Scripture, Tradition and Church teaching, it supports a clear and progressive approach, helping pupils develop their understanding of the Catholic faith and live out Gospel values in their daily lives.
In the Religious Education Directory, the curriculum is divided into different ‘branches’ that show the key areas of learning.
